Seeing New Brunswick

The tourist part of the holiday started on Monday, the 22nd. Picture heavy again.

After the get together, I left the hotel and went to stay with June, who lives in the area. She has a lovely home with an equally lovely view out the back.

June insisted on driving me around - her reasoning being I couldn't very well gawk at the scenery if I had to concentrate on the road. (And I think she was a little worried about me getting lost!) We headed into Saint John and went up to the hill where Fort Howe had been built. I have to admit I had never heard of Fort Howe, so it was interesting to learn a little more Canadian History.

And as you can see, it was a foggy day in spite of the fact there was a brisk wind blowing.

Saint John Harbour
(or would be if you could see it)

And then after we left our lovely vantage point, the sun came out and it was a beautiful day. So, we went to the Reversing Falls.

The 24th we headed in the opposite direction to go to the Bay of Fundy. First we went through Sussex, a town apparently famous for it's milk and cheese, so what better mascots than these?

We went through the village of Alma

and the tide was out so the boats were high and dry.

Then we headed towards Fundy Park past some lovely coastal views.

And then Fundy Park.

From there we went to Cape Enrage, a restored lighthouse.

This was the duplex for the lighthouse keeper and assistant keeper.

And some information about the site.

June and I.

Then we headed for Hopewell Rocks, also called the biggest flower pots in the world.

We got there at high tide, but it was still pretty spectacular. When the tide is out, you can walk among the rocks.

Okay, enough for this post.
